Basement Remodel Part 7

BLUF: We passed our 4 way inspection!  Wahoo!!!!

(What is BLUF you ask?  It’s an acronym for “bottom line up front.”  There are lots of acronyms in the defense world.)

It’s been a long road, and we’ve made it.  Since getting the walls up, most of the work we’ve been doing has been a lot less visually impactful, but still lots of work nonetheless.  It’s involved a lot of wiring work.

Plumbing work.  We neglected to leave a keep out ring around the shower drain when we poured the concrete, so the shower drain wouldn’t fit.  Solution: elbow grease, a concrete chisel, sledge, and a hammer drill.

Once everything was getting real close, we scheduled the inspection.  This gave us a real deadline to work towards.  As you might expect, things took a little longer than expected and it took some last minute work lasting late into the night to get everything ready to go.  The inspection only lasted a couple of minutes and we passed.  Yeah!

Our most recent project was to put up the insulation.  Kevin was a super trooper and came over and helped me put it up.

The last thing to do prior to putting up the drywall was to remove the last carpet from the room and stairs.  We found some awesome linoleum with metallic flakes embedded in it.  While it’s tempting to keep, we’re going to cover it up.

Next step is drywall.  We can’t wait!

In addition to the work mentioned above, Kathryn’s been an amazing project manager.  She’s been getting quotes, scheduling the inspections, shopping for carpet, linoleum for the laundry room, and keeping us organized and on schedule.
