Independence Day at Lagoon

This in the 2nd year now that we’ve visited Lagoon on the 4th of July.  You really wouldn’t think, but it’s a great day to go to Lagoon.  Shhh, don’t tell anyone.  This year, it worked out that we were able to meeting up with Nancy and some of her fam.  Then we talked Mom and Dad into coming down as well.  Then Bethany was able to come as well (Kevin was busy working away on his thesis…).  So, it turned into quite the party.  We all had a great time, and the girls had a blast.  It took them two days to recover from all of the fun.  The 2nd day after, Ashley told me that she tried to wake up in time to see me off to work, but here body told her it was still too tired from Lagoon and she needed to sleep some more.  What a goof ball.  It’s okay if you sleep in once a month!  Tell you what though, Eliza has no problem whatsoever with the concept of sleeping in.  She seems to have more of the Kirk/Hawker sleeping genes that Ashley.  Maybe we’ll you again next year Lagoon.

In Honor of Darbus

Well, we’ve finally done it.  Darbus has a new home.  Many tears.  She was a good car.  As good as they come really.  The good thing is that she went to a great home nearby.  We see her driving around occasionally.

In honor of Darbus, we decided to go camping.  We went up the Left Fork of Hobble Creek to a good spot where we’ve had tin foil dinners before.  This time though, we slept the night.  The girls (all three) did great, and it was a lot of fun.  It was a bit chilly at night, but we all made it through.  The truck did a great job, and we went on a fun early morning ATV ride.

I think this is the sign of a good trip!

Bear Lake

We took a trip to Bear Lake recently.  The only fuzzy Bear Lake memory I have is of Dad and Jerry tipping over a sailboat over near the beach.  We decided we wanted to make some new memories.  We stayed on the south end of the lake at the Blue Water Resort hotel.  It could have been a little warmer maybe, but we sure had a fun time.

Sand angel!

On the 2nd day, we took went on an expedition up to Bloomington Lake.  He we were for a pit stop at a fun little place called Coffee and Crepes for a some yummy deluxe crepes for breakfast.

Ashley drew a picture of our future family.

Doesn’t she look a bit like a budding teenager?!

Ashley and Eliza loved playing with the other kids at the playground.  This was probably a highlight of the trip for them.

On the 3rd day, we head out and drove to Lava Hot Springs.  We swam at the pool there there, and ironically we nearly froze at Lava Hot Springs thanks to a cold snap that came through that weekend.

Minnie and Baby Kitty taking a ride in the sweet kids meal cars we got at a restaurant for linner.

It was a fun weekend trip!
