July 4th

July 4th!

Lemon-Blueberry Streusel Pie in the making. A guy from work made this and shared it with us. It was so good, so we decided to make it for the holiday.

We biked the Mapleton Canal trail and made it clear to the end with the girls. Zoey was with me in the trailer.

A Utah Valley dirty drink from Fiiz drinks in Mapleton to cool off.

Fireworks time!

We drew a crowd with the neighborhood kids.

Happy Independence Day!

Santaquin Peak and Loafer Mountain

Santaquin Peak is definitely one of the most prominent peaks on the southern end of Utah Valley. It was a very enjoyable hike to the top and had a terrific view of the valley.

Proud flying flag on this 4th of July weekend.

I decided to double up and do Loafer Mountain as well. It had a really great view of Birdseye.

Looking North from Loafer towards Utah Valley. Santaquin peak is the mountain to the left.

I almost had the mountain to myself…

Flying High

Today was the Warriors over the Wasatch air show at Hill AFB. We’ve been looking forward to this for months. I remember going to see the Blue Angles when I was a kid. It was a very memorable experience for me and I was hoping to share a similar one with our kids. They were saying there would be a ton of people at the show, and they asked people to take public transit, so we figured we get a Frontrunner train ride out of the deal as well. Sam and Hanna came to our place and watched Zoey for the day.

Here we are on the train. One nice thing about starting from Provo is we had the pick of the train. By the end of the line, it was standing room only.

Landon and Kathryn with their sweet F-35 picture.

Ready for those loud jets!

And then…the base reached capacity and they turned us away. BUMMER! Should have started a whole lot earlier I guess. We were not the early birds today.

So, we had a fun afternoon anyway, and then this evening we had another backyard fire and roasted hot dogs and made s’mores. Then we had each of the kids take a turn going for a flight. Check out those smiles!

Moore Fun 2022

Yellowstone, here we don’t come! We’ve had the Moore Fun 2022 Yellowstone trip on the books for over a year, and all the preparations were nearly done. Josie had the shirts all made up, and food was getting packed. And then on Monday morning, 2 days before checkin, this article was posted:

With pictures like this:

Yikes. Not good! After some quick brainstorming on a Plan B, we decided to have the family up to the Cabin for the week instead. Thanks so much to the Hawkers for making this possible.

With the new plan in place, we worked on our final trip preparations. It must be a big family gathering coming up because check out that tote full of Muddy Buddies!! Oh yeah!

The swing set we built was a huge hit, and Tim and Suzanne declared they needed one up at the cabin. So, with the vacation moved to the cabin, we jumped into gear and got some things ordered with the goal of building the swingset as an activity during our stay. Kevin helped us pick out and load up the lumber, and Josie picked up some brackets on her way down so we could get them there faster than shipping them.

Not a bad load if I do say so myself. Way to go Thunder.

Picture time, in our sweet matching Yellowstone shirts.

Cousin time in the bunk room with Grandpa Ray story time.

Early morning moose watching. Who’s to say we would’ve seen more wildlife in Yellowstone besides bison. We also saw several elk.

Happy Birthday Jimmy!

Here’s a good helper boy.

Landon said that he loves riding the dirt bike even more than chocolate milk. That’s saying something!

One of the many amazing meals.

Outing to the Olympic Park.

Hot tube party!

Enjoying the view with Grandma.

Eliza practicing her pullovers.

Nice try Landon.

Cabin flag flying proud.

Girls outing to get pedicures.

And here is the finished swing.

All cleaned up, packed up, and ready to head home. Thanks cabin for the great time and we hope the swing set is a great addition for many years to come.
