Birthday Boy

Our little guy is growing up so fast.  I can’t believe he’s already ONE year old!

We had a birthday party for him at Jakers Pumpkin Patch in Springville.  So nice of family and friends to come join.

I love all the mom hands 🙂

Birthday breakfast.  This little guy is our wild thing, so we made him a wild pancake.

Opening presents.  The girls were pleased with his (their) haul.

Cake smash photos.  Can’t wait to see the finals.  I think they’re going to be awesome.

Love you bud!

Timpanogos

Timpanogos…the final movement of this hiking season.  My friend Chris and I set out to hike Timpanogos, on was was likely the last really nice weekend of the year.  He’s done it a number of times, but this was my first.  It’s been a bit of a bucket list item, and was the last hike I really wanted to do this year.

We were on the trail a little before dawn.  I really do enjoy the pre dawn hours.  The stars are so clear and it’s so peaceful.  It was, however, a bit nippy!  The other fun part of being up pre dawn is that you get to watch the sunrise.  I absolutely love the early dawn moments when the sunlight first hits the mountain tops and they glow a special orange color in contrast with the shaded areas.  Then as you’re hiking along, all of the sudden you burst into the sunlight and feel its warmth, and you quickly shed some layers.

Mount Timpanogos from the backside.  We’re getting close.

The saddle.  It was an incredibly beautiful day.  Hardly any wind, and a very pleasant temperature.

The summit!  11,752′.

Amazing views from the top.  I love looking up at the mountain and knowing that I was there at the very top.

Partially frozen stream on the way back down.

All told, we made the hike in 7.5 hours, with a half hour break on the top.  A good time, all around.

All About Eliza

This is a post all about Miss Eliza.  Here are some things that have been going on with her for the past little while.

First off, she has started preschool.  This little girl is growing up fast!

She still LOVES mermaids!

And Mer-kittys

And beautiful dresses! Recently, she’s been saying that she really wants to get married. When I asked her why she was excited to get married, she said it was so she could get a beautiful white dress. So, Kathryn got Eliza a beautiful white dress for an early birthday present. Upon opening it, Eliza had to put it right on, and then a full on dance party burst out, just like in the movies.

Birthday party at the bounce house.

On Eliza’s last day before her birthday, while Kathryn was on a girls trip, I took the kids for a pizza picnic at the church and we brought the bikes. As the girls were riding around, Eliza was getting tired of being lapped by Ashley. I commented to her that she would go faster if we took her training wheels off. I was a little surprised when she rode over and said ok. So we took the training wheels off and she hopped back on and I let the camera roll.

Wahoo! She’s got it! We tried a while ago, but she wasn’t ready yet. She was good on balance from all here time on her Stryder bike “motorcycle,” but she was lacking the muscle memory to pedal at the same time. So after riding the pedal bike with training wheels for a while, she now had the skills to ride like a boss.

Happy Birthday Eliza! I can’t believe our #2 is now 4! Growing up so fast!

This most amazing princess kitty mug started out as a white elephant gift to Kathryn.  It was a huge hit.

I love this sequence of pictures. Eliza just discovered the little kitties in the submarine hanging out with the mermaids. She thought it was soooooooo funny.

This girls loves to get dressed up!

And oh my does she love to color.  Most of the time she’d rather color than eat 🙂  These two are great coloring buddies.

Eliza-boo, we sure love you!
